Definitions of Watch Conditions
Please be aware the 'Excellent', 'Average' and 'Poor' condition descriptors apply to stainless steel, gold, platinum and bi-metal (stainless steel and solid gold) watches only. For details as to the specifics of each condition see below. The following caveats apply.
Watches That We Are Unable To Accept For PART EXCHANGE/GIFT CARD or OUTRIGHT CASH PAYMENT:
- Gold watches with integral gold bracelets that cannot be removed from the watch.
- Gold plated watches, or bi-colour (steel with gold plated components or elements).
- Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) and Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coated watches where the PVD/DLC has chips or scratches resulting in the removal of the coating, however minor. This includes, but is not limited to Breitling Blacksteel, Tudor Blackshield, some models of Panerai Luminor Marina etc.
- Steel/gold/bi-metal cases: Deep marks/gouges/dents and impact damage and would not polish out.

- Vintage Sports Watches
- Watches that are not currently functioning.
- Watches with deep engraving that does not originate from the manufacturer, or that is present on the main body of the watch case.
- Watches with crystals having multiple deep, heavy scratches or cracks leading to damage to dial.
- Watches with dials showing any damage, signs of discolouration, rust to dial or hands.
- Watches with missing crowns.
- Watches with missing or heavily damaged bezels.
- Watches with stretched, twisted or broken bracelets.
- Watches with aftermarket parts.
Excellent
- Glass: No scratches (sapphire crystal/non sapphire crystal).
- Crown: To be fully functioning (changes time and pushes in fully/screws down).
- Bezel: Free from obvious scratches, to turn if applicable, no mark to insert if applicable.
- Case: Free from obvious scratches from general wear.
- Case back: Free from obvious scratches to be attached to watch fully
- Bracelet: Rubber/leather – to be unworn and unused, no pulling/stretching/staining. Mixed metal/stainless steel– free from obvious scratches.
- Clasp: Free from obvious scratches, to be fully working. Deployment clasp, if applicable, to be fully working and free from obvious scratches.
- Movement: Watch to be fully working – date changes at midnight, all hands line up and if there is a chronograph, to count at least 1 minute.
Average
- All watch functions operate correctly.
- No missing parts.
- Glass: Tiny chips to the edge (sapphire crystal), light scratches (non sapphire crystal).
- Crown: To be fully functioning, (changes time and pushes in fully/screws down).
- Bezel: For steel and aluminium bezels, some scratches, but from general wear and tear.
- Case: Scratches, but from general wear and tear.
- Case back: Scratches, but from general wear and tear. To be attached to watch fully.
- Bracelet: Rubber/leather – Very little soiling, a tiny bit of wear, but still only from general wear use. Mixed metal/stainless steel– marks/scratches from general wear and tear that would polish out, there should be little to no pulling/stretching to the bracelet and it should not hang below the case when held crown up or down.
Poor
- Glass: Some scratches Visible cracks (sapphire crystal/non sapphire crystal). Visible chips to the edge.
- Crown: Not functioning, does not screw down. Any signs of damage.
- Bezel: Heavier marks and scuffs to the metal but could still be polished out without significant change to the bezel, if present, damage to the insert.
- Case: moderate scratches which would mostly polish out.
- Bracelet: Rubber/leather – heavily worn, may not buckle. Mixed metal/stainless steel– scratches, possible marks/dents. The bracelet should still be usable and not broken or twisted.
- Clasp: Scratches, possible marks/gouges/dents. May not be working.
